1971-S USA 1 cent

Yet-Another-Forum-Game---Numismatic-Go-Fish!

The winner of this challenge will be the one with a coin that is the most different from the challenge coin. Entries will be ranked in some traditional categories for this game, where the top position is the one leat like the 1971-S cent. Each participant's score will be the total of their placement in each category. The lowest score wins.

Category (reference)

Year (1971)

Country/mint - This will be determined by the distance between the capital cities or between the cities where the coins were minted. (Washington, D.C., USA/San Francisco).

Denomination (1)

Size (19mm)

The lowest possible score would be 4. Remember that your score is dependent on what others post. There is no rule against matching the challenge coin in any category. Say have a large size US 1971-S coin with a denomination of 1. You could still potentially place high in the size, even though you would likely rank last in all the other categories. 1971-D could use the distance between the mints.

Not sure if I'm doing this right, but here goes. The coin that I have which is most different from a 1971-S Lincoln Cent is this Japan 100 Mon "Tenpotsuho" (1835 - 1870).

NumisEd, that was minted in Canberra, which is also the capital, so that will give you a few extra miles.

I'll try to get these scored within the next day. Five entries is pretty decent.

Scores are finally in! You guys played denomination differently than I intended, but it appears that you all played with the same interpretation in mind, or didn't specify, so I scored based on your version.

Year (1971)
1. > 2,444 years ttkoo
2. > 99 Hondo Boguss
3. 32 triggersmob
4. 26 NumisEd
5. 23 jbuck

Country/mint
1. 9901 miles NumisEd (Canberra to DC)
2. 7939 triggersmob (Harare to DC)
3. 6858 ttkoo (Selçuk to San Francisco)
4. 6773 Hondo Boguss (Tokyo to DC)
5. 5348 jbuck (Pobjoy mint, Surrey, UK to San Francisco)

Denomination (1)
1. 2499 triggersmob
2. 1999 NumisEd
3. 99 Hondo Boguss
3. 99 jbuck
5. <1 ttkoo

Size (19mm)
1. 21.45mm Hondo Boguss (49mm x 32mm. I averaged the L and W for scoring purposes)
2. 19.55 jbuck
3. 14.95 NumisEd
4. 13.95 ttkoo
5. 5.41 triggersmob

Totals
Hondo Boguss - 10
tkkoo - 13
triggersmob - 11
jbuck - 15
NumisEd - 10

I have to give the tie to Hondo Boguss. I think the 100 mon is just more different because it's not round and has a hole.

Thank you, bd251, triggersmob, and ttkoo! Unfortunately, I'm unable to pose a challenge at the moment. We had somwhat of a weather issue here Wednesday morning. Briefly, I now know what an EF2 tornado sounds like.* My house is ok, but there is massive tree damage. I've been and will be preoccupied doing lumberjacking and clean-up in my yard for the next few days. I would like to pass the honor of posing the challenge to NumisEd.

* That makes a Cat 5 hurricane and a tornado I've lived through in the last 4 years.
