I bought this deep Struck Through error for a whooping 2.00. I paid and got this dirt cheap. I got this at Nashua Coins and Collectables. I'm wondering what it was Struck Through because it pretty deep and it caused weakness on the right rim on the reverse. Whatever it is, it's a very cool error.

Wow. My first thought was too good to be true. But the reverse proves your case. A steal. Congratulations.

Redifin, I know it's worth more than what I paid for it. I going to keep it because it literally one of the coolest Struck Through I've ever seen. Not sure how that slipped out of the Mint.

What do you think it was struck through? A brick?

Was the guy running the stamping machine eating peanuts and dropped a shell into it?

Haha. Maybe? This was labeled as a Struck Through error with no price on it. The owner of the coin shop wrote a price and that was 2.00. The U.S. Mint had a lazy employee working.

That IS a nice one! Its rounded an smooth, could it have been struck through a piece of die face edge that had brokeken off? The whole area around the DAT seems part of it as well, that hammer die may have been in the process of coming apart. Very nice pickup!

I think Crazyb0 may be on to something. I looks like a piece of the die separated from the rim under the date and folded over to make the strike through. The arc of the trough looks like a match to the arc of the rim. The only oddity in that idea is the shapes below and above the date do not quite match. It is hard to say what actually happened.

He's definitely onto something. I see what you are saying. It does look like the die broke off and folded over.
