I found this Memorial penny the other day and the mint mark looks very strange. I tried looking up 1984 d rpms but I did not find a match. The D looks like it took a hit on the round side and was flattened a little bit. If you need better pictures just let me know. Is it just PMD? I know it's probably nothing but I might as well just ask for your opinions. Thanks for the help!

That's not a RPM at all. That's Split Plate Doubling. No extra value. Worth 1 cent.

I'm not 100% sure of that - any way you can post a clearer close up picture?

Looks like it might be a die chip.

I'm having trouble taking better pictures with my phone. I'm trying to focus on the MM but they aren't coming out well.

Try taking the best picture you can than use the "image optimizer" provided below the reply box and edit your picture. Add the edited picture back into your picture file you are using then put that one in your post.

Well even with your previous pictures I agree with coinlover1899 and say die chip also. If that area in question right next to the D is raised then die chip for sure.

I do not think it is a die chip. Plating debris or trapped gas.
