I assume these are missing clad, or some sort of planchette prep jobbies.

I also assume that I'm barley above a window licker in coin knowledge so hence me asking.

The nickel, of course, isn't clad.

All of these simply acquired toning depending on where they've been.

No, this was not caused by metal detector finds. Those look better than these, even if they have been in the ground a number of years.

Nickles are minted on a alloy planchet (75% copper, &
25% nickle) so not a clad coin.

Ooops, sorry mox for repeating what you said, you got in a few seconds before I hit reply.

Environmental damage maybe? That's what it appears to look like to me. If so, then all coins are worth face value.

Yeah not really a value question . I just like to know how things happe. I'm a bartender, I get all kinds of weird things in. I know a nickel isn't clad but I didn't think I needed to specify when it's only 33% of what is shown. Guess I was wrong lol.

Hey Mark. Always love being first in with something worth while. I'm usually the one that is a few seconds late.

IAMPOTATO, you have to remember a fair percentage of us are over zealous in correcting the obvious because of our requirements for perfection.

We search for perfect coins where most are not perfect.

As such, some of us are quick to point out discrepancies. Myself included.

I know, I was laughing when I typed that. I've seen the poor people whose hopes and dreams have been crushed under your feet.

I once too dreamed of a lambo I drove on my new house on the moon.

Fortunately since my coins were trash, at least my Bitcoins are dang near 5000 a piece today. At least I'll get a moonlambo that way.

Actually I guess I still need to send my Grant dollar with the stars stamped over the date in to NGC. That should at least buy me a night making bad decisions with questionable women here in gorgeous SWFL.
