Ok now in referance to the DDODDR now when the doubling on the first layer of the letter /nunber what if the doubling actually puncturers the copper exposing the zinc underneath,,only on the copper clad of course still considered a coin of value cause over time it will corrode
To the forum. Sounds like what your describing is Split Plate Doubling. This is one of the worthless doublings and as you stated, the exposed zinc will start to rot. A photo would confirm this.
