spru Bedrock of the Community United States 12477 Posts	Posted 09/11/2017 03:00 am What's on the obverse looks like the beginning stages of zinc rot and it's probably due to split plating in those areas that exposed the zinc core creating bubbles underneath the copper layer from corrosion-created gases. What's on the memorial, I can't say because the pic is too blurry. I never really liked how quickly it would take the Zinc cents to become like this and how the condition drops quick. Copper cents held up way better than Zinc cents. :) Errers and Varietys.
