Hi, I'm a new member, so bear with me. I'm trying to identify this coin. It's about the size of a US nickel but three times as thick and very heavy. A Google search leads me to believe it's a Nero Silver Tetradrachm. Any ideas?
I can't seem to upload my images. Help

You can use Paint to crop and resize images; 500x500 should be plenty large and well under 300kb.
Nickel sized would likely place it later, during the 3rd century.

to the community Your coin is a billon Tetradrachm of Nero from Antioch in Syria. From the pictures it appears genuine, but this type is often faked.

Thank you, I appreciate your help. I hope it's real, I get a kick out of having a 2000 year old coin. Who knows where it's been.

Hmmm. I'm a bit concerned about some similarities to a documented fake. Among other things these include the tiny break in the diadem end that hangs just behind Nero's neck on the obverse, the anomalous dot near 6:00 on the obverse rim, the little notch in the base of the palm on the reverse, and the small line connecting the center of the thunderbolt to the "O" at the bottom of the reverse.

I noticed the edge (at 3:30 Obv and 8:30 Rv) Casting sprue was placed at this point on the edge. The surfaces also appear too frosted. It's a dud

Was wondering what you guys thought about this one. I had few say that it is probably a cast, but I see no proof of it. I haven't found any matches for fakes either.
