That's a die break between those letters. similar to a die crack only contained there, forms a chip connecting the two. Kinda normal die wear events.

Upon 2nd look, without a closeup, it may be a hit on lower corner of B which pushed a bit of metal to left, just PMD not a die break then.

I'm thinking that too, as if you take that little hit on the B and follow the path of it up it also seems to have distorted the U.

This is kinda what I'm talking about, whatever hit the B looks like it bounced and hit the U

Ok sounds good. Ive been also looking at the coin and ive noticed faint numbers under the word unum and I looked it up and theres some info about the date I think maybe under the word. But you cant see in the pics but when I look as close as possible there are a few things I spotted that look like maybe some real light doubleing I think. Its hard to tell. Also the coins wieght is 4.94 is that normal for it. Is the coin worth anything just for being old and such. Thanks you guys for all the info and and the heart break. Haha

Normal weight is 5 grams - so yours with a little wear weights about right. And there were over 100 MILLION minted plus your is very circulated - just worth 5 cents.

Its a spender, but keep searching. It's the only way to find that GEM!
