I clicked on the link you put up, and went live right away. Was that ever fun to watch! I have never seen an auction or attended one, so that was new to me. I was so wrong on some of the sold prices, yet close on some too. We will have to see if I bid on the next one. They went through so many coins so fast. Better be quick with that mouse, or it's gone. Thanks MoneyPenney for an eye opener that was very informative.

Thank you MoneyPenney
Was nice to see "older" coins again. As well was nice to see the prices that people paid for the coins.
General trend: Coins that went high in their times - now loosing the most. Ladybug, 2013 Gold Superman, 2015 Penny set - are champions in loosing - still more than issue, but much less, that we think about their value.

A couple buyers got lucky with low prices for the gold Superman coins. They are still selling for between $1700 to $2000 on ebay. Easily flip for a few hundred dollars profit. The rest of the coins sold for prices pretty much near market values. The early glass bug like the bumble bee is close to issue price, still holding value. The coins that no one wants either went unsold or for about 40% to 50% of issue. Interesting to note the Glow-in-the Dark Dino coins went unsold, given the 1st one sold for up to $100 initially. And the 5 oz coins went for well below issue price which pretty well sums up all 5 oz coins.

The prices realized for most coins in the auction definitely supported what several of us have been saying for years here on CCF - don't buy RCM NCLT with the expectation of such coins being good investments. Collect NCLT coins only for the pleasure of ownership! The small number of coins that do hold their value (or increase) should be considered unexpected bonuses. Quote: A couple buyers got lucky with low prices for the gold Superman coins. They are still selling for between $1700 to $2000 on ebay. Easily flip for a few hundred dollars profit. I agree, the hammer prices were lower than past market levels, but it's a little hard to say what they are currently selling for on ebay. Over the last 90 days, the only two that have sold were both "Best offer accepted" sales. Multiple sellers are still asking for big prices (>$2,000), but they are not actually selling at such prices. Quote: And the 5 oz coins went for well below issue price which pretty well sums up all 5 oz coins. Very true. I think these 5 oz pieces fall into a category that is outside the comfort zone of most collectors. They are much less "coin-like" that standard one-ounce issues which drives some away, and they have a relatively high initial selling price that appears to be above what most collectors are willing to spend on modern NCLT. So, they don't build up much initial enthusiasm (beyond a small group) and fade from memory and interest as more and more new coins are released.

With the Superman coins there is around 30% fees and taxes which are hard on selling price, but always true buy what you like, recently only 1 or 2 % of all new issues hold value, that is pretty sad. Most auctions are basically bargain hunters or you are going after a must have coin.

The sold prices shown already include the buyers premium of 18%. So you are just paying GST/PST or HST and shipping on top of it. For the Gold Supermans, the $1003 include the buyers premium, so before the fee the coin actually sold for $850, which is the cost of the coin since the issue price was $750 plus taxes (it is not pure gold).
The final price to the buyer is $1003 + $20 shipping x 12% (GST and PST) = $1145.
