I went with White Stone. It will provide more contrast for any toning and highlight the quality of the metal in the coin.

I also decided on White Stone. It's the least distracting of the backgrounds and gives more prominence to the coin.

If you don't mind, I like black for silver coins. Here is what I have done. The border can be changed or eliminated. The size of the PCGS label can be enlarged or made smaller, as with the description (fonts can be changed). I use Picasa.

I prefer a background that has no pattern to distract. I also prefer white for a background as I shoot photos with a white background and the resulting photos seem to display best without the common white out spots, nor color change.

Of the three poll options, I chose the white stone. I like the black background for gold and copper.

I like the metal but I like black also, it stands out more. I love using wood grain background as it looks natural.

I chose metal, however, I do agree that the black background looks rather sharp.

I prefer the white for the choices you provided... but the example using black looks really nice.
