To me it looks like one side was exposed to light longer than the other. it seems to have toned it. The picture is hard to tell for me.

There are a few coins that, for some reason, tend to tone like this. I have a complete set of 5 2013 O'Canada $25 coins that toned that way to a varying degree -- obverse and reverse, as well as a couple from a Group of Seven set I picked up some time ago.
