What kind of error would this be ? Strike through maybe I'm not sure.

Think you're in reference to the ghost image on reverse. It is called PIDT, passive indirect Transfer of Design

The image of the bust is pressed into the dies through multitudes of strikes,then imprinted on the coins.

I think it's a very late die state (VLDS) and shows progressive indirect design transfer (PIDT or "ghosting")
