My county is preparing to celebrate its bicentennial next year. I have been approached by one of the bicentennial committee board members about finding a vendor who would manufacture silver and copper/brass ounce rounds (privately-financed) bearing a design of the committee's choice. Does anyone know of businesses who provide this service? Sunshine was taken out of business by the feds, was it not?
I believe Sunshine may be back in business and there are many other private mints that make "challenge coins" that could do the job. My local coin club had it done for our 700th meeting a couple years ago, cost $4.5 to $5 per piece for 200 pieces in copper (price goes down for larger orders) Google Challenge coins minting and you should find several companies.
