Hi guys-

Those of you that have seen my posts know that I like, look for, and mine uncleaned late Roman Empire super small coins.

I have a new one to show off. It is a HUGE size 8mm and weighs a HEAVY 0.53 grams.

The obverse is a diademed, draped & cuirassed bust right (supposedly). The Reverse is a monogram. It is struck on an undersized and underweight platchet so the complete monogram does not show, which is normal for the time period.

I have not done anything except for a rinse off and slight rub.

I know what I THINK it is- what do you think it is? If it is- should I submit it to NGC Ancients for verification?

Later-

Ricimer was the real boss. Who was the actual Emperor?

I think it is a Severus III or some say Libius Severus. This is one of the real hard to find Romans for we Roman collectors. Is this coin too small to submit for verification?

Great find. Congrats. There isn't a minimum size allowance for verification, is there?

This is a coin I would send out to David Sear for verification. I believe also that it's Libius Severus with the reverse mono of Ricimer. If so it's a rare coin #25 on the list of rarity.
