Does anyone know the best way to sell a few 1901 Buffalo Ten Dollar paper notes? I have one or two that I want to sell and do not know the best way to do this or a reputable dealer to go thru. I do not want to use online auctions.

Ditto Snooba.
Depending on the size of the community in which you live/work, there may be a coin collecting club where you could find buyers.

I live in Atlanta, GA should not be a problem to locate a club or dealer I suppose.

are you referring to the bills that came with the lewis and clark coin and currency set? the reason I ask is because those are a reprint and not a actual original note. You can get the whole set of coins and currency for about 30 bucks on ebay, so the note by itself wouldn't be worth very much at all if it was broken out of the set

Hey Buffaloman I would say follow Luck13's advice. I'm not sure if you consider selling on a web forum the same thing as selling on an online auction, but everyone here is very knowledgeable and you would have no risk of being underbid or ripped off. Just my Two Cents.

These are real notes as far as I know. They are not part of a set. Are aged, have folds. Smells like old money. I have not felt them though. They are in protective hard plastic cases but I can separate the plastic to get to them. I am positive these are not fakes.

The other reason I am convinced they are origanal is I purchased them from a dealer. Now I know not all dealers are on the up and up, but I do not think he was trying to swindal me either. Is there a good way to tell if they are fake? Other than carbon dating the them that is...

I don't know really, there should be a way, but if you say they are woirn they are likely not from the lewis and clark coin and currency set because theirs should be crisp uncirculated specimen bills that were printed for this set and not for circulation

Oh, based on that ebay item. Mine are the real deal. No words like "specimen" on the seal or anywhere else. Not part of that collection. I think I have my answer for now.

I have a better idea, can you post scans of the notes?

Just spent the last hour looking over two of these bills with a high power loop used in jewelry business. I can see cotton fibers and those blue and red lines in the paper. The detail on these bills is incredable. Looks 3-d in the loop. You can see how hard it would be to duplicate. I can see that one has the numbers 293 in the lower right back and C with 27 under it on front right. The other one has a 10 in the lower left back and A 22 on the front right. All hard to see without the loop.
I would say they are authentic. Both the red and blue fibers and the cotton from the paper is raised in some areas, only visible with the loop.
