The 2 is clearly larger than the 8 as it should be on small date variety. It was a different die used on the zinc small date variety.so to assume that it needs to look like a 2 on the copper plancet is illogical. Go look at the only one that is known to exist and the 2 looks nothing like the small date denver minted zinc cent. It is the small fine lettering and angle of the numbers that differentiates the llarge and small date on the bronze cent of which only 1 example exist to compare mine to. The lettering on " IN GOD WE TRUST" "LIBERTY" AND "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" on my coin only matches small date varieties of the zinc planchets but my coin is copper. Explain that to me please.

Consider that at the Philly mint, both large and small dates were struck on both copper and zinc planchets. The design characteristics are consistent no matter the planchet composition.

Tmills,
Your coin is a large date. The best way to tell is by the 8.on the small date the top part of the 8 is smaller than the bottom.

@Tmills

I think now you've gotten enough feedback with descriptions and images to determine what exactly it is you have.

Keep asking questions and keep searching!
