I hope I'm in the right section for this question.
Can anyone tell me how much value has been lost on this coin, or even if it has any value at all, now that it has become tarnished?
I understand this was a common problem with this coin due to the foam packaging.
Most of the damage is to the rim but there is also tarnish on the queens cheek.
I would be grateful for any feed back.
Thanks

Yes there is still value if you can find a buyer. Especially because most of them are damaged (or toned as some sellers prefer to say), it will be desirable to someone.

This coin undamaged has sold for over $100 but can be had now in some stated of impairment for about the $40 issue price. There are some sold items on ebay of coins worse than yours that sold for more.

I had to look. Us US collectors rarely see a square beaver. I had no idea they existed. So your post can count as a "I learned something new today".

I had to go check on mine....removed from the foam when I bought it in 2012.

Still looks ok.

Great coin, CC-Ottawa

Nice to see "old" valued coin, without being fancy, hot or overhyped.

That was a smart move CC Ottawa, yours looks great.
Unfortunately I didn't check mine until after I heard that there was an issue.
At least it's not a total loss.
And lightly toned does sound a lot better than tarnished.

Mine sits in a PCGS holder, with no toning or tarnish... I had bought another one for my daughter (birth year thing) and left it in the case of issue... and hers is unattractively toned. I'll probably give her my nice one and wholesale the tarnished one.
