Plated denarius from Domitian from the year AD 80. Interesting note: Most of the Roman coins I find, seem to be either fourree denari or bronze coins.
Only have a couple of silver ones.

Obv: Laurate head right.
Legend: CAESAR DIVI F DOMITIANVS COS VII
Rev: Cretan goat standing left in laurel wreath.
Legend: PRINCEPS IVVENTVTIS
Ref: RSC 390.
Mass:

Nice one- another detecting find?

Interesting reverse legend... PRINCEPS IVVENTVTIS means "prince of youth" but Domitian would have been 28 or 29 in 80 AD; hardly a "youth". I'm much more used to seeing this legend on the coins of Herennius Etruscus, Hostilian, Valerian II, Saloninus, etc... all of whom were under 25. Or was this just the traditional way of addressing the Caesar?

I think it was normal to address a Caesar with being youthful
