So I ended up getting 3 of these from a new bank roll and immediately noticed they were off a bit. When I got home I examined them carefully with magnifying glass and my jewelry loop and there are no initials as well as the odd unsmooth surface. So are these die abrasions or die thinning or something else? My wife currently has 1 listed on ebay and our local coin dealer said they were nothing but I know even without designers initials they are it least some kind of error worth something. Wish I could afford to have them PCGS certified. All info greatly appreciated and glad to be here

I think this is a Struck Through Grease. Grease and maybe grit or something got mixed into the grease. A keeper.

Your coin is a good example of a Struck Through Grease on both reverse and obverse. Very nice catch. to the Community.

Thanks guys. My wife, being a cashier, nabs coins like this all the time. Since we ended up with 3 just like this and 3 others close to this but still have some form of initials on collar we decided to try and sell one on ebay and keep 2 for ourselves (his and hers, lol). Haven't seen many other major errors pop up yet on the Ellis islands so still have no clue what the true value is yet.

Don't get it PCGS certified as it will cost more money than it's worth. I'd say it's worth 5 bucks for estimated value.

The premium will be marginal greasers are not considered a major Mint error. It might fetch a buck or two.But you'll never know on ebay anything goes

I've found four so far in rolls I'm getting from the bank. I have one that has a very distinct edge on the rough triangle area. On the obverse side, the "D" mint mark seems weak compared to the others I have.

I have the exact same errors both obverse and reverse as the op. Should I upload pictures of my errors?

Robertk310, welcome to CCF! Yes, you should upload pictures of your coin, but please do it on a new topic.
