The old images were kind of blurry. I took new images and made a collage of these obviously, three different composition medals I have acquired. All are in very nice condition. 1892-1893 Columbian Exposition Large Medals

Discovery of America

1909 Alaska Yukon Pacific Exposition
Silver-plated Bronze
So-called Dollar HK-363a The Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition (AYPE), was a world's fair held in Seattle from June 1 to October 16, 1909, publicizing the development of the Pacific Northwest. It was originally planned for 1907, to mark the 10th anniversary of the Klondike Gold Rush, but postponed the 1907 date (so as not to conflict with the Jamestown, Virginia tricentennial celebration) until 1909.  Who doesn't like m&m's? 1901 Pan-American Exposition
GOLD MEDAL AWARD
The Vermont Farm Machine Co. Bellows Falls, Vermont The US Cream Separator was commemorated on this 1901 Pan-Am Expo medal and I believe that a real gold medal was awarded to The Vermont Farm Machine Co. Bellows Falls, Vermont. I would imagine it resembled this bronze souvenir from the Exposition. I have seen they won another Gold Medal award at the 1905 Lewis & Clark Exposition in Portland Oregon and I also have one of those souvenirs. Almost all these souvenirs are found holed. Thanks Dorado, I remember opening a packet and getting one of those in Ontario Canada in 1970 but which Prime Minister it was I don't recall. Here in the US at that time they were giving away Antique car medals at Sunoco stations.

1939 New York World's Fair

Spinner Medal The small bump on the reverse would make this a "spinner" medal. There seems to have been numerous "spinners" minted during this era and for this fair. One could hold the medal by the edge and spin it on a flat surface for a little thrill I suppose. The Trylon and Perisphere were two monumental modernistic structures designed by architects Wallace Harrison and J. Andre Fouilhoux that were together known as the Theme Center of the 1939 New York World's Fair. The Perisphere was a tremendous sphere, 180 feet in diameter, connected to the 610 foot spire-shaped Trylon. The Trylon and Perisphere became the central symbol of the 1939 World's Fair. Their images reproduced by the millions on a wide range of souvenirs, promotional items and served as the fairground's focal point. Neither structure survived after the closing of the fair, the materials were used for World War II armaments.  Rockefeller Center is a complex of 19 commercial buildings covering 22 acres between 48th and 51st Streets in New York. Many scenes from classic movies were shot on these locations. The famous Rainbow Room and Radio City Music Hall is located here. Every year a giant Christmas Tree is lighted and there is the famous outdoor skating rink and a 15-foot statue of Atlas, the famous figure from Greek mythology who was condemned to carry the world on his shoulders as punishment for leading a war against the Olympic gods. Also in the lower plaza in a fountain is a gilt bronze statue that is 18-foot tall, 8 ton statue of Prometheus, who brought fire to mankind by stealing it from the Chariot of the Sun.  Charles C. Ebbet's iconic photograph Lunch atop a 30 Rockefeller Plaza, An art deco skyscraper was taken hundreds of feet above New York City's street during construction in the 1930's. Thousands of people found work here during The Great Depression thanks to the vision of John D. Rockefeller Jr.

1933 Century Of Progress International Exposition
Chicago - HK-463 - Official Medal These "Official Medals" were struck in the Mint Exhibit on grounds and was designed by Emil Robert Zettler, sculptor and head of the Industrial Art Section of Chicago's Art Institute. He obtained a design patent D90,162 for this design June 20, 1933. Dies were produced by Medallic Art Co. in New York City, but contract to strike the medals was awarded to Crowe, a metalworking firm in Chicago. Issued in 2 3/4 in., 2 1/4 in., and 1 1/2 in. sizes; only last qualifies for listing here. This is the smallest at 1 1/2 inches. Two larger sizes were struck for both years, second year's issue bearing "1934 edition" on reverse, but 1 1/2 in. medal is known only in 1933 issue. On obverse, male figure is symbol of energy and action; represents intellectual arch between man's resources and man's work; words "Research" and "Industry" Fair's Theme. On the reverse, a relief map of the Exposition grounds and lake, above is directional N arrow for North.
