This was a recent purchase. It was presented to WWI veterans who made a pilgrimage to France in 1936 for the unveiling of the Vimy War Memorial. The actual monument is huge and is something I would like to visit one day. The Latin translation is "In memory of sixty thousand Canadians who in the year of the lord 1914-1918 surrendered their lives for their country." Outstanding!  |

Both Versions readily available on ebay. The bronze version in the card carrier is plentiful; the 1 oz silver version not so much, especially in the original packaging. The obverse features portraits of founders Henry Wells and William Fargo by Charles Vickers; the reverse is sculptor Ed Llewellen's rendering of the iconic stage coach. If you use "The Wells Fargo 150 Year Anniversary Commemorative Medallion Coin 1852-2002" as search term, Dearborn, you can get a look at them. ( It's my understanding we aren't supposed to post links to ebay listings. . .right ? ) Thanks for that info, I may have to look into getting one of these for my challenge coin set. as for posting links - yes we can, but some are a no-no and our great creator of the forum (Bobby) had blocked them out already. I suspect the example I posted might have been a sales sample produced by NW Territorial Mint to demonstrate its versatility in medal / challenge coin production. I've got a bronze and silver version of the WFB 150th Anny medals on the way; will post photos after receipt.

 Medal from 1982 commemorating 600 years of the Dom Tower of Utrecht (it used to be connected to the cathedral, until a tornedo destroyed the nave). Edited by NumisEd

Cavett LA. J. W. Lynn - Good for 5¢, 10¢, 25¢, and $1.00 in Merchandise. Crawford-Farber unlisted. It is quite unlikely that I'll ever encounter the 50¢ token. From Crawford and Farber, Louisiana Trade Tokens, 2nd Ed.: "Tokens are known for J. W. Lynn, who operated a cotton gin and general store from 1918 to the mid-1940s." I found these being sold on ebay for $5.00 (I bought 2 of them.. )  one I'll keep as is in the OBP (Original Bank Package) and the other I'll crack out and put with my challenge coins.  Edited by Dearborn
