 Interesting, Rob! And they were dated, which would sort of confirm that the series ran over multiple years. Your post jogged my memory of bumping into a Dickens version recently, and a quick search just now turned it up here on the Whitmore website.Gotta imagine there are millions of these still kicking around in old biscuit tins all over the UK!

Cast in Lisbon, Portugal, in 2002, at Gravarte, a medal making and engraving shop since 1952.    The 199g, 80mm bronze medallion, is signed "Tenabe" and includes "GRAVARTE" on the edge face. Artist conveys a straightforward message: the planet is in our hands. |

I picked up this maverick token last year at a local coin show here in Louisiana. It was not listed in Crawford and Farber's Louisiana Trade Tokens or on tokencatalog. I created a listing and tentatively attributed it to Galveston TX. Since then, other contributors have positively linked it to a John Callaghan who operated saloons and a hotel in Alexandria LA from 1893 through at least 1904. $3 well spent! Alexandria LA.
