I found this while sorting through some of my fathers possessions. Since he passed away, I can't ask him where it came from or what it is.

There is no denomination or metal content markings on it. As well as no date. It looks like the proof coins the mint does, with a polished background and frosted design and text.

It was already in a capsule when I found it in the coins he collected (Turkish, Italian, Greek, etc.). Since he never did anything besides dumping them in an old cigar box, I know it had to be in the capsule when he got it.

We visited Washington D.C. back in 1981 or 82. I don't remember seeing him buy it then. But, he also traveled for TDY assignments and training for the Air Force, so he could have gotten it anytime from 1960's to 1981.

See the attached images for what it looks like

I am not familiar with this token, but is it magnetic? do you know what the weight of it is? what about size, is it similar to a half dollar or larger like an Ike dollar?

if its magnetic then it is not silver (normally rounds would say purity if silver)

Can you tell if there is any lettering on the edge? There might be some information there, such as silver purity (if that's even applicable).

It is roughly the same size as the current silver eagles. The capsule has a slight extended lip on both sides so I can't tell exactly. Side by side, it looks the same size as a 2016 Tuvalu $2 silver coin or the Zombucks Bullion rounds Provident metals sold.

I don't have a scale, but I can check for magnetic response easily when I get home this evening.

OK, just tried the magnet test. Yep, very strongly attracted. So its not silver.

But I'm still at square one for any identification or history. Any suggestions on where I could search for any info on this? I'd really like to find out what it is and where/when/etc.
