Hey Jim, you ever read the studies that show the pipeline in Alaska actually INCREASES the population of the divine Carabu? The heat produced by the pipe appartently attracts large numbers of the animals to one spot where they all hang out and...well, there's not much to do in Alaska! So they have babies and lots of um!

I have been steadily adding a couple of common-date morgans every week. I have a set going (that was left to me) but it's very small, and I can't even begin to imagine what it would cost to pick up some of the very key dates.
Mainly I just buy cause I love the coins, and would like to own as many as possible.. even if they are all 1889 Os.
Anyway enough rambling.. my morgan buying will continue.. but if Jim1953 is right, 10 dollar/gallon gas will certainly put an end to most 'unnecessary' spending for me.

I live 1/2 mile from my local coin shop so I always walk there when the weather is nice. As much as I go there, I bet I would burn through almost $10 a month in gas

$3.75 here today. Just have approximately 3 more trips encompassing 30+ banks and driving will no longer be practical: too far. After that it will be stops on road trips and finding a bank that will order boxes. Could go back to the banks that I have previously cleaned out and hope for new customer rolls. Anyway, it has been fun. Still looking for a car with better gas mileage. That will extend the budget some as well.

Hi, three. Yes, I had read the same thing. Shows that everything that industry and business in general touches does not have to harm the environment.

Quote: If you have a 401K chances are that you own oil stock too. By your logic I guess we're all to blame. Yup, got some buried in mine, right next to the tobacco! We are all part of the problem. We allow ourselves (or our friends and family) to support the status quo. We encourage an industry that feels money is better invested in creating the next flashy bling-mobile, rather than more efficient engines or products that do not use fossil fuels. But back to the topic... For the things that can't be found in my normal change, I save my coin budget for local coin shows. Long gone are the days when I made weekly trips to the coin shops.

My budget disappeared last October. Purchases have been very slim since then. Not sure when it is going to end. I have been looking for a small car, as my pick-up only gets 17mpg. So with gas at least $3.75/ gal here it takes $85-90 to fill it.

Well I see south of where I live it's $3.65 Found it for $3.54 yesterday and topped off. It keeps going up i'll cut my trips to the coin shop to twice a month instead of every week. Or plan it to where shopping day falls in the same town. I have to say thats one of the reasons I went back to roll hunting. I still buy my needed lincolns here and there but I have cut back also on spending

I own a business that everything we do depends on oil products and diamonds. The 2 most overvalued commodities going right now. All we can do is raise our prices drastically. This is what all other businesses are doing as well. You haven't even seen the tip of the iceberg called 'the cost of living' yet!
When fuel prices increase, prices for EVERYTHING go up. The hilarious part of this is that the US govt doesn't include oil prices in any of their inflation or cost of living indexes! That is unreal!
I won't even get started on farm states senators forcing laws that require our fuel supply to increase percentage of corn ethanol content annually! Raising the cost of food and living exponentially through artificial means.
OR, the fact that ANWAR is 95% uninhabited arctic desert, yet the commercials against drilling there all show Bambi frolicking in the forest. A scene representing only 5% of ANWAR in reality, and that 5% is the part that DOESN'T contain any oil. What a joke.
Btw: From what I understand, CITGO is majority owned by the Venezuelan govt. Unfortunately where we are located, CITGO always has the cheapest gas/diesel prices.
Concerning coins, I have to raise your prices for services so I can afford to continue to collect them! :sarcasm:
