How much could this coin go for if anything?

Seeing that it is chipped at the top and seems worn, I'd say it's probably a Fine graded coin. Worth around $.50 to $.75 numismatic value.

I can tell you that it's a common date, and appears to have substantial rim damage. It's probably worth about 5 cents.

However if you check this website which tells you the approximate prices of Canadian coins, http://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins...ts-1937-1952 , it says that the coin is worth around $.50-$.75 for Fine graded 1947 no maple leaf nickels.

Looks to me like you have a 1947 dot..depending on the damage you have on the rim, you are looking at roughly 10-15$ as a starting point, if you provide better photos of the front and back of the coin, we can give you a better idea..

Whoops. I checked the wrong price list. I think I see the dot, too.

That is not a 47 dot nickel as the dot is very close to the bottom of the 7 and the one shown does not have the dot in the correct position. Maybe a worn maple leaf because its further away from the 7.

Definitely not a dot as doctorman says.
Hard to grade without picture of Obverse
but coin looks well worn and has rim damage
so probably worth about 25 cents.
