mrwiskers Pillar of the Community United States 1780 Posts	Posted 12/02/2025 3:22 pm Brazil bought silver dollar sized coins from countries over the world, in order to strike their own crown-sized coin. Silver was in short supply in Brazil (at that time) as the few silver mines there were controlled by the City of London. This overstrike was originally a Spanish Potosi, Bolivia 8 reales, & a lot of the host coin's detail is still visible (the pics just don't show most details...) In-hand, you can make out over 65% of the host coin's edge detail, including a full date, mint mark, denomination, part of Ferdinand's name + a full VII, & other letters in the legend ...
