Hello, I have the opportunity to purchase this 1929 Indian Head $2.50 Qtr Eagle gold coin. Prior to making an offer I need to better understand it's grade range. I believe it may be 61/62 but would appreciate your more experienced opinions.I do not have additional pictures at this time.
Thank you in advance.

Haven't grade 2.5's in a long time, and my gold grading skills are nowhere near perfect because I really haven't studied them like I should.

I'm confident @ 58 though.

An important point is, the value of this coin will not change greatly whether it's slightly circulated or low Mint State. The images are either enlargened or oversharpened, which introduces distortions deceptive to the eye, and the coin could be something other than one's initial impression might indicate. Personally, I believe it Mint State, after trying to factor out what I know to be the distortions present.

I could be wrong.

This issue is not difficult to locate, and these are not the best of images from which to make a decision. Based on those factors, I would not write a check much over $300 for it. There is only ~$150 worth of gold in it.
