Took in 200 $1 silver certificates at work today. All series 1935 or 1957, and most in great shape, with numerous in mint condition. Numerous occurrences of sequential numbers, including a couple 3-part sequences. I bought ten of them, including the lone star note, since that's all my budget will allow at this time.

OUCH! Bummer, to let that slip away. Either got a very stoopid relative or a kid ripped off his Grandpa. What a shame either way, nice to score but...

Took in 200 of them - darn, wish you could have got all of them. EWWW like Butch said - stole from his Grandfather! Darn, that is a reality - kids getting into their Dad's or Grand Dad's collection.

Fortunately I don't think that is the case here. They came from a guy who routinely asks for old bills and coins. I have a feeling he was cashing in part of his own collection. These were all common certs that are worth face. He knows better, I'm sure.

That certainly makes it sound more kosher. Nice catch! I would have snagged some, too. (In exchange, of course)

The rest are still in my possession at work, so I may pull out some more.

At least you saved a few. Good thing SC's don't sell for that much, only a few a pop. Still though, 200 @ $3-5 per could yield a nice $400+ profit.
