Another year and it's time again for me to share my analysis on the RCM products and my view on the events for the year.

In short, you will need to spend $392,500 if you want to buy the 230 NCLT products release in 2017. This is lower than last year:

RCM-Statistics-For-2017

What I found very interesting, is that if we take the most common coins, the silver coins with a face value between $10 and $50, you have the following results:

RCM-Statistics-For-2017

The signifiant increase of the average price show the result for most coins are now big, color, shape, or with something glue on it. This is also the new trend sold almost identical coins set (Voyagers (twice), Maple Leafs, Moon phase, San Xing,,,)

When I look over the last five years, I thinks the RCM is reducing the number of products, but at the same this increase the selling price to keep the revenue. Also, the number of gold products in still decreasing for the last 4 years,

Finally, let me share my very personnel list of events, big or small, for the RSM and the Coins Community, without any particular order:

Black Friday Special: The more you spend, the less discounts you have!

My coin of the year (sic), The Star Trek Enterprise coin! (With a special mention to the Stanley Cup)

The RCM wish you a happy 2018 Holiday season.

The X for X fiasco.

In the recycling department, new discount on bundles of un-sold old coins: RCM used TSC marketing now ?

Master Club Exclusive! You VIP make me laugh, almost felt sorry for you ;-)

The CoinTalk Forum: For the Illuminati of coins collecting,

To added to the coin glossary: Trinkets

Il y a un sport qui se joue avec des pierres et des balais: N'en parlez pas, le fil de discussion peut disparaitre.

I've often used the RCM as an example when US collectors complain about new issues.

But those numbers are insane. Totally insane.

Not only can few afford one of each, even if you could, would you?

Very interesting numbers, indeed.

But does this really mean "downhill" for the RCM? They obviously try to change their circle of customers. Maybe from their point of view this makes sense, because a lot of mints produce LOTS of coins. A lot of competition. A lot of coins to melt down after 2 years.

And uninteresting for customers with money, who want something exclusive for their collection.

So - why not offering coins for the rich one and forget collectors like you and me?

I agree with the fact that the customers base is changing for the Mint: The are pursuing two type of buyer, first MC members that spend thousands every year on more "quality" coins and secondly the buyer that go for giftwares or impulsive buying.

Small collectors like me are left in the middle and personally I stop collecting from the RCM: When I read 3 times "Order today" in a coin description, it translate for me to "Come on s..... press the order button."

And since they are too many coins available, the RCM is presently doing a clearance sell. Do buyers will realized that their coins will go on rebate after 2-3 year directly on RCM store?

Very interesting numbers. The mint increased prices across the board in 2017, but I did not realize there was such a huge increase in average price for the common silver coins in table 2.

OTOH, ***tons*** of NCLT product available in the market today: very good for folks who waited for price drops!

Thanks for posting.

This bears repeating:

... and that is why I care increasingly less about the garbage they pump out.

There have been threads that support the idea that the RCM is killing the goose that laid the Golden Egg, with the volume of NCLT that they produce.

It is obvious from this information that the RCM doesn't think that it has killed the goose yet.

I think that until their large clients, being retailers, tsc etc stop buying from the RCM, I don't think they will really care much about what we the little fish want or care.

Well it's likely to be far more challenging for RCM to replicate 2017 sales
will need to be very creative with themes post 150th
