Not being "USA Coin Trained" I am assuming this listing is like selling an average circulation grade 1911 Aussie penny for AU$50,000.
I like how some sellers will try and sell you a **** sandwich and tell you it is some sort of organic sausage!!!!

The "main" problem is, there are NO 1804 dated Half Dollars. There are 1805 over 04 examples, but NO actual 1804 Halves. It is a fantasy piece.
Now of course, this mental giant has the price too far out to fool anyone, but how the powers that be allow this stupidity to exist is simply beyond me. I am sure that somewhere in their "rules" that they do not bother to enforce, there is something about counterfeits and fakes......

Luckily the opening bid is way beyond stupid, no one is going to bite. I chuckle at the fact that listing costs will be higher than the worth of the "coin".  |

Should they monitor every auction? Who made sure no counterfeits were sold at the Baltimore show? The buyers need to take some responsibilty too. (Which they have so far.) FYI, If someone reports that auction, it would be pulled. But everyone giggles or gets mad and moves on and doesn't bother.

One major difference. Let Ed or Gordon find out you are selling counterfeits and your days of having a table at a major show are done. Show promoters have very long memories and many friends...

I have no doubt. That's a good thing. The same thing goes on at trading card shows. The owner of the hobby shop I sell for told me a story about a dealer that got caught selling fake autographs. News traveled very fast and he was blacklisted at all the shows. He managed to sneak into one using a different name. After the 3rd time one of his tables *accidentally* got knocked over, he packed up and left. Never to be seen at a show again. |

I finally got around to sending him/her a message that it's a counterfeit. With 2 1/2 hours left, I doubt I'm gonna get an answer. Aw, shucks! I'm also dubious about his "colonial coin". Appears that old log cabin was chock-full of goodies.
