Guys,,,, this is a pretty darn good price for this gold coin... I am guessing its NOT selling well but how can you go wrong with a pretty design and not too shabby mintage for a gold coin...

? gold swan ?
Western Australian swans (the real ones), are black !

Western Australia is famous for them.

That explains why the Perth Mint has featured it on a coin.

I was dragging my feet on The Swan... I looked at various coins, looking for designs that looked good, low mintage, were not common and they are NOT marked up crazy high.... I was going to get a 1 oz Korea tiger after being super happy with the 1/2 ounce and I turn around it pretty much sold out,, so I was like hmmm

I thought about the Libertad 1 oz for this year but after comparing data, looking at numbers, mintages, there is nothing unique about that coin other than it is a low mintage but NOT a key date. Dealers are just marking it up since there is a frenzy this year on 2017 Libertads I think of collectors are assuming ALL Libertads are key dates this year...

I first got my doubts on the gold swan after seeing a few auctions that came in BELOW that price APMEX was offering, I am VERY SKEPTICAL of purchases coins that are commissioned by a dealer OR only sold through an exclusive dealer.

after compiling price data, sentiment and comparisons, it was the price drops that made sense to me.

They probably just put a lower price initially to get interest then raise it. I always keep an eye on Scottsdale Mint on ebay. Every once in a while they offer their 10oz Silver Stacker Bars almost at spot price, but after selling some they will jack the price way above spot like they currently are.

Well, just some thoughts-

1- very beautiful design with the swan, it really makes this gold coin stand out.

2- great job by the Perth Mint, as always,,,

3- Low mintage, first in a series,,

Havent decided if I will keep buying this series as I do like birds of all types, but my elephants are my favorites still LOL HOwever, the craftsmanship stands out with this coin.
