Trying to put together a slabbed type set in NGC on a budget. Picked up my first Seated quarter, what do you guys think of this coin?

I like your choice and the price is reasonable.

Are you going to use the NGC registry for your type set?

It's a great way to compare with how other collectors are building their own set.

I am using their registry yes sir. I started a type set around 25 years ago but had to sell most of it due to real life, just getting back into it recently.

and congrats on the nice purchase!
Many of us have been in that dame boat where we sold some of our collection because of life's unexpected turns.

Glad you are able to begin a new chapter!

A great way to begin a registry set. Registry doesn't have to mean you are ever going to have the best set, but it does allow you to see where other collectors are.

For those of you who don't think collecting competitively is what you like, fair enough. But allow me and others to enjoy that type of collecting if we like.

I really can't think of too many things that aren't competitive. Which phone do you have?

Looks like a nice start!! I have a registry at NGC too, though it's not really representative of my collection. For instance, I have only 7 Bust Halves listed in that set of my registry. Anyone who's seen my pics here knows that only covers a fraction of my actual collection.

I think having a registry is a fun sidetrack to collecting, but I don't buy a coin just to fill holes in it. I buy coins I like, whether raw or certified by other TPGs. If you limit your purchases to one TPG, you eliminate many coins from your collection, or have to pay extra to have them reholdered in the "right" holder.
