Certainly a die chip. Nice find.
Note that our hands really do have enough "stuff" on them to show up on coins if we hold them as you are doing - especially on copper coins.
Holding coins by their edges is strongly recommended.

Nice find. If you have BU coins, don't hold them like this because they will get badly fingerprinted and the grade will go down, lowering its value. The sweat on our hands ruins the coin if we're not careful. Hold it by the edge or wear gloves. For me, I just wear gloves.

E&V, I use gloves, my wife washes 4-5 pair every day or two. I also hold them by the rim except when I'm taking photos when I just lay them in my hand. I don't do it while eating fries though.  Thanks Coinfrog and dbrablec.
