IMO, the line between collecting and hoarding is crossed when it's no longer enjoyable for its own sake. I was hoarding 95% copper pennies, and eventually got so sick of looking at the plastic jug in the corner of my office that I dumped them all at a coinstar for a gift card. My inheritors (be them my kids, grandkids etc) will appreciate a focused, pedigreed collection. They probably wouldn't appreciate getting a jug full of mostly zinc rotten cents that used to be BU.
