I've seen a few counterstamps recently that have way to much detail to have been done with a stamp. Engraving is the only answer. Does anyone have any idea what type of machine it would take to create something like this? Amazing detail.
Nice counterstamp; that example has a lot of small details. I'm not sure it has to be engraving; some of the Masonic counterstamps are similarly detailed.
You know, that's true. The new Masonic stamps are really detailed. I didn't include a picture of the reverse of this coin. There is no smooshage from being struck either.
Heat pressed maybe? Otherwise you're talking CDC (computer design controlled) Laser etching which would be very costly for that cheap trinket. Think $1000 per hour use would be roughly $4 for a 15 second etch...don't think so.
After really looking at this with a jewelers lens I think you guys are correct. It's a stamp. Amazing how they can get such fine lines and details. I jumped the gun on my presumption.
