Hi all, new guy here. I have this nickel I just found while going through my grandfather's old coins. I was wondering if any of you have seen this before, if this is a unique error, how much do you think it could be worth, etc.? As you can see, the edge at the bottom of the coin appears to be double-struck, while the everything on the coin is shifted upward, so there's no edge at the top and part of at least one letter seems slightly cutoff. Any insight and help would be awesome. Thanks in advance.

to CCF. If the other side is centered then it is a MAD,misaligned die.If the other side is also off it is an off center strike. Check ebay sold values for current value,

to the nuter, funhouse!

That's a MAD. Misaligned die strike. The die was loose, hit at a slight angle. Since you didn't show the other side, can't say if it is an offset strike or not, probably not. If the exact same effect in same location, then it is, if reverse is normal, MAD. There is very little premium, is a common striking problem.

To the CCF! It it most likely a MAD (Misaligned Die), but we will need to see a picture of the reverse before closing the case and making the final verdict. Misaligned Dies do carry a small premium as long as the letters are missing which the T in Trust is cut off a little. It is a keeper.

I agree with E&V...that's a keeper. MAD nickels from that year especially are rather common. Most are subtler than your specimen but as noted above, when the letters/devices are starting to be truncated/eliminated, then the desire for the coin increases...as does the value. No real premium as noted, but that is a fun find! Unless you CRH a good bit, it'll be a while before you find a better specimen. Check the reverse to see if it's off-center too.
