Do either of these services offer photo confirmation online that the slabbed coin in your collection is the coin they graded? I ask because I have a small collection of about 10 Morgan dollars. They're all toned, and they're all slabbed by either PCGS or NGC. I would like to see if they were toned when they were graded. I collect stamps as well as coins and the two main stamp certifying entities (PSE and Philatelic Foundation) allow one to enter the certification number and you get back a photo of the stamp they certified. If PCGS or NGC have something similar, how does one access?

Except for high value items I believe PCGS and NGC ONLY photograph coins they've certified if requested (and paid for) by the submitter.

Can't speak for NGC, but with PCGS, you can enter the certification number on their site at https://www.PCGS.com/cert -- if they have a photo, it will be shown to the right of the information table. Below the table, there's a section for "Latest Auction Appearances". If there are any listed there, sometimes those will have images from the auction site.

PCGS only photographs coins if the submitter chooses that service. Apparently, NGC now photographs every coin for their online verification site. Granted, the NGC pics are not high quality. https://www.NGCcoin.com/certlookup/

Thank you for the link for the PCGS certificate verification. Only one of my 7 PCGS Morgans was accompanied by a picture, and it did show it as toned when submitted. I also looked around and found you have to go all the way to the bottom of the page to The "Customer Service" links and it's right at the top as Cert Verification. Now to try my NGC coins. Thanks again.

PCGS photographs very few coins that it slabs. NGC has photographed every coin they have slabbed for almost 10 years now. This is why using NGC to confirm authenticity of slabs works and PCGS doesn't.

I have two NGC Ikes. One has a photo up, the other does not. For the record it is much nicer than the photo I took.

Quote:I got in an NGC slabbed Morgan dollar today. There's no picture. I suppose that means it was graded before pics became a standard practice. What kind of slab is it in?
