I have a Lincoln Penny that has been struck with the fourth digit of the date missing (ie: 194 D). Is anyone familiar with this coin. I would be interested in knowing how many of these were made and it's approximate value.
It is not a misstrike, it is what is commonly known as a filled die error. Grease and other gunk sometimes fills part of a die so that detail will not strike up on a coin. It is relatively common(https://goccf.com/t/30501) and only adds a premium if major portions of the design are missing.
