Royal Canadian Mint - A sci-fi and pop culture icon, U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D is brought to life by a vibrant colour application on your coin. The Galaxy-class vessel is set against a vivid green nebula, which adds a dynamic sense of movement and energy to the deep space setting. A frontal view allows for the study of the underside of the ship's saucer and the stardrive section, whose navigational deflector is easily identified by the red concentric circles. This feature is also incorporated twice in the engraved frame that surrounds the colour image and bears the engraved words "STAR TREK" and "CANADA" in a Star Trek font. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

Though I'm a Trekkie, this new 1/2oz coin is a miss for me since my Star Trek coin collection consists of larger 1oz and 2oz coins -- mainly Perth Mint -- and I prefer the photo quality graphics to these animation graphics.
However, for fellow Trekkies who like this coin style, I'm surprised that the RCM didn't provide a subscription incentive in the form of a collector box.
