At Subway I got 1 cent back for change and it was a 1930 wheatie. It's brown but you can see traces of the luster! It has great wheat detail and a black spot over "C" in cent.

Nice find, David! It is amazing to me that people don't check their change before they spend it...and as long as they don't finds like yours will continue.

I wonder if these CoinStar machines have anything to do with some of these older coins getting into circulation. They seemed to start showing up more often when the CoinStar began.

I find wheat cents in change often. I crack open a lot of rolls at the store when filling up my till and always thumb through it. Last year I bought a brick of cents and only found 5 wheat cents and 88 canadian cents.
