Hello, I have looked at many Spanish coins online but cannot find any 1627 (thats what the date looks like to me) or many Philipp IIII (why is Philipp spelled with 2 P's? Would really like to know if you think this is an actual coin (not a fake) and what is it called, and is it common or rare? thank you... I am new here so I hope I put this in the right forum... thanks!

You have a 1627-dated, monogram-style, medio, or half real of Segovia, Spain minted under the authority of King Phillip IIII. Segovia is known for its Roman aqueduct and this silver coin was fashioned using roller dies that were powered by waterwheel. The old Segovia mint still stands despite having operated circa1585 - 1730 in the making of Spanish Coins. See it on line and you can become a friend of the Segovia mint to help preserve it.

Philipe III is written with 1 P
All the successors with two P's
(I have been told so....)
So yours is minted by Philippe IV
