Hello- I have a 1988-P Dime in a presentation holder. It has amazing luster and no defects nor bag marks under 5X magnification. Although mark free, the surface has a stipple like texture throughout obverse and reverse. I've not seen this before.
Can you help me understand the cause and if this effects the final grade? Although I would never send in a business strike 1988-P for grading, this one seems perfect and maybe worthy of a flyer, other than the surface texture. Thanks for helping me.
Pictures below- I apologize for the glare as I don't want to take it out of the plastic holder unless it has potential premium value. imperfections are on the plastic.

Highly polished surfaces. Unfortunately, it's not worth much.

If you would like, I can attach images of my Proof dime (not polished), which has a completely different look than yours.

Thank you. Not the answer I expected. Thought that polishing would have more linear or circular lines. So surprised as it came out of a set of uncirculated coins (cent, nickle, dime and quarter) sold as a collectors set. None of the others are polished and are certainly uncirculated. However, I yield to your experience. Guess they selected a dime that was manipulated. Thank you for commenting so quickly.

Polished or perhaps plated.

Can you post some pictures with natural lighting? The light you are using is so strong it overpowers the coin entirely and renders it almost black and white. Do not direct any light sources at the coin and do not use flash.

Can you show us a photo of the edge. It would show if it were plated.

Here are the additional pictures you requested. It's no longer day light on the East coast so natural light is gone. I tried my best to use different light sources. Wish it was better - this coin has so much luster v polish that its hard not to get reflection or shadow. Tried my best. One possible clue is that the torch lines are gone and seem filled in rather than polished flat. Appreciate your comments...

OK - rim is not plated so You have a dime that was highly polished. AND there are buffing wheels that polish without showing any type of polishing lines like you were wondering about in your earlier replies
