The Samoan Fruit Bat (Pteropus samoensis; pe'a vao in Samoan) has a wingspan of about a meter. Also known as flying foxes, they are important to forest ecosystems because they are pollinators and disperse seeds. They also have a very rich aroma (personal experience).
