Nice high grade token. I would give this Technical grade of MS-62. The dings on the Cheek, Throat, Waist of the Man, and Shoulder and Tail of the Horse precludes a higher grade. This token appears to have been nicely cleaned. The lighter colour areas of the token appear to be bare medal. If so, the area is subject to rust or corrosion. A light application of WD 40 or equivalent solution will protect the bare surface. Seeing Canadian decimals were inaugurated the year following many ensamples of this date still survive in MS condition.

This issue is identified as Breton 719, and is also identified in Charlton's PC-6D. Within this collective grouping, Doctor Courteau identifies varieties 275-319 inclusive.
Your ensample is further identified as Courteau variety 296, having a rarity factor of 1 on a scale of 1-10 (with 1 being common).

A cut-and-paste of my research concerning Courteau variety 296:

296 R-1 The inner Dots within the obverse Rosettes are small.

Dots are: The upper section of the Anchor Rope passes under the lower section. ? X 5 X 4.

Obverse Characteristics:

The lower outline of the Mantle to the left of the Man's right Arm is perfect.

A very wide and well struck pleat is in the void betwixt the lower outline of the Mantle and the pleat of the 6th and 7th Mantle Folds. This pleat is near the pleat of the 6th and 7th
Mantle Folds. The remainder of the Mantle is distant from the Arm of the Man.

The 6th and 7th Mantle Folds are clear and separate from each other. A wedge (a poorly executed relief) unites the Folds. The Hollow is somewhat narrow.

The outer outline of the 6th Mantle Fold is nearly straight.

The 7 is on-line with the centre of the 3rd Denticle to the immediate right of the numeral 5.
The top of the 7 is higher than the top of the 5.
An imaginary line across the top of the 7 is on-line with the mid-section of the left Lobe of the right Rosette.

A large curved forked line is below the Man's right Arm, a small line joins the upper branch.
This fork commences as a wide line emerging from the muscle bulge, and extending horizontally into the field. Half way to the Man's Body, the line thickens and becomes
much heavier. The latter half of this line continues in a 'slow S' direction and joins to the upper section of the Man's Back. The upper branch is from the mid-section of the
horizontal of the lower, and runs parallel to the lower and terminates on-line with the lower. A line from the Man's right Arm extends horizontally to the apex of the upper branch.

A small round Knob is on the Dagger Hilt.
The author would call this Knob 'normal size,' howbeit smaller than the previous. The Knob is very distant from the Man's right Hand. A wide mass joins the Knob to the Man's
right Hand.

The F in OF is not re-cut.

The right Bridle Rein terminates well short of the Lip of the Horse. The left Bridle Rein does not shew.

The left Leg of the Dragon is weakly connected to the Body of the Dragon.

A Dot is on the Tail of the Horse. Similar to variety 295.
Note - This diagnostic was not mentioned by Doctor Courteau. This Dot is very easily confused with that of variety 295, as variety 295 is the only listed variety having
a Dot. Ergo, a Dot, thus variety 295 - variety confirmed, investigation complete. Wrong.

This Dot is of similar size and very similarly situated to that of variety 295, but differences exist. This Dot is atop the centre strand of Hair in the inner upper curve of the Tail of the Horse. This Dot is on-line with the right end of the Stand of the right Leg of the A in BANK. The Dot on variety 295 is situated on the outward strand of the Hair of the Tail of
the Horse.
Note - This diagnostic may not be readily discernable on lower grade specimens.

From perfect and broken dies.
Note - Doctor Courteau made no mention of having broken dies.

A Die-Crack is to the N in BANK.
This Die-Crack is from the left-side of the Denticle above the left Leg of the A in BANK, extending through right corner of the Denticle to the immediate left, and
extending to the Serifs of the N in the same word.

A Die-Crack is to the K in BANK.
This Die-Crack is from the left-side of the Denticle above the diagonal of the N in BANK, extending to the Serif of the left Upright of the K in the same word.

A Die-Crack is from the Tail of the Horse to the Mantle.
This long, arching Die-Crack is from the left ground, through the lumber Plank, through the lower end of the Tail of the Horse, and curving upward to the edge
of the 6th Mantle Fold, passing very close to the Stand of the left Upright of the N in BANK, and extending through the Mantle to the bottom of the 1st Mantle Fold.

A Die-Crack is to the OF in OF.
This Die-Crack is diagonally atop the Denticle betwixt the K in BANK and the O in OF, extending to the upper section of the left-side of the O in the same word, exiting the upper right-side of the same letter, and continuing through the top of the F in the same word, and continuing into the field, and forking. The main branch continues to the Serif of the left Upright of the you in UPPER. The upper branch extends to the centre of the Denticle above the left-side of the left Upright of the same letter.
Terminal die states have the section of the Die-Crack betwixt the Denticles and the same O, forked. Mid distance betwixt the Denticle and the same O, a branch
extends to the corner of the 5th Mantle Fold.

A Die-Crack is to the D in CANADA.
This Die-Crack is from the left-side of the Denticle above the centre of the 2nd A in CANADA, extending to the Serif of the D in the same word.

Reverse Characteristics: According to Doctor Courteau, the same as variety 294.

The Anchor Rope Dots are ? X 5 X 4.
Note - Doctor Courteau did not mention the number of Anchor Rope Dots to the left of the Sword, save to say that varieties 294, 295, and 296 have the Anchor Rope to
the left of the Sword passing atop the Anchor Rope coming from the right-side of the Sword.

The relief is the Anchor Rope Dots in the first section of this variety is much better cut than on the 294 variety and closely emulates that of variety 295. On high grade specimens, ten Anchor Rope Dots can be detected. The Dots appear a little narrower that those of variety 294. The relief of the Dots within the second sector is adequately executed. The second sector contains a row of 5 Dots which are close together, yet separated from each other. The first Dot of this grouping is distant from the Sword. The terminal Dot of this grouping is a smaller oval-shaped diagonal Dot which is joins to the Fledgling. The Dot pattern of the second sector of this variety are considerably different than those of varieties 294 or 295. The relief of the Dots within the third sector is adequately executed. This sector contains 4 Dots, which are of varying sizes and shapes, and are substantially separated from each other. The terminal Dots join to the Fledgling and Anchor Shaft, respectfully. Again, the Dot pattern of the third sector is vastly different than varieties 294 or 295.
Note - The details may not be readily discernable on lower grade specimens.

The Anchor Ring is perfect.

No Grass Blades shews.
Note - Early die-states may exhibit a trace of a Grass Blade. Doctor Courteau referenced variety 296 as the same as variety 294. Variety 294 is described as having
'practically no blades.' On most ensamples, no trace of Grass Blades are detectable on variety 296.

No lower Oak Leaf shews.

No Oak Wreath Stem shews.

The left Anchor Brace is slightly narrower than the right Brace and extends to the vertex of the Fluke.

The Anchor Rope Dots terminate with two medium sized connected Dots.

No discernable Dot is to the left of the terminal Anchor Rope Dots.

Thus:
296 Perfect-no Die-Cracks.
296A A Die-Crack is to the N in BANK (obverse).
296B Die-Crack as above, plus a Die-Crack is to the K in BANK (obverse).
Die-Cracks as above, plus a Die-Crack is from the Tail of the Horse to the Mantle.
Die-Cracks as above, plus a Die-Crack is to the OF in OF.
296C Die-Cracks as above, plus a Die-Crack is to the D in CANADA.

Note - Doctor Courteau made no mention of having broken dies.
This is the Die-Crack progression.
