Hello All,

I am new to the forum but wanted to get a opinion on what happened to this coin possibly what stock it is on. Any ideas?

To CCF! Not struck on a Dime planchet. It is Post Mint Damage meaning it happened after it got out of the Mint. It looks like it got grinded down by a belt sander or with a buffer. It doesn't really matter on how and why it happened, but it is Post Mint Damage. Worth face value, but you may keep it if you like

The cents from mid 1982 are a zinc core with copper plating. What you are seeing is the zinc core where the copper plating has been ground off. Still Lookin

and yes they are correct, the copper plating has been removed exposing the zinc.

I agree but looking at the side of the Coin it looks like the planchet is half silver and half copper. When I scrape the side of a Zincoln I get all silver planchet under the copper coating. Comparing coin to Dime it is larger and appears to be same size a penny.
