Not sure if I have asked this topic before and my bank don't know what the answer is, so here goes my learned friends. Does the Mint take out all the American coins from the coins that it is culling, ie. Pennies, Nickels, Dimes and Quarters. I ask this because I read that the Americans keep check on what they cull so they know whats left in circulation. I am assuming that if they do this is the same reciprocated by the Americans for Canadian coins and the big question if they both do, does the mint get back American dollars in the exchange rate? As our banks do not give you American rate for coins.
Someone must know what happens.

US coins are not culled at the bank level nor the federal level. Who would have time for that nonsense...

me!

I seriously doubt any cross boarder culling is taking place. It is not only cheaper, but in the best interest of every nation to just make some more pocket change which is highly profitable than not only pay to get it back but also pay to transport it which would be a loss of money.

I would think that the amount of US coins that actually make it to the Canadian ARP (Alloy Recovery Program) would be statistically very small and probably falls under "don't ask don't tell".

Personally from roll hunting I have pulled about $20,000 in US coin last year. That is quarters dimes and nickels.

Now I know I have a "small" addiction to the sport of roll hunting but I am only 1 guy in 1 metropolitan area, this is a small dent in the amount of US change floating around North of the 49th.
