I had occasion to go digging around in the safe on Friday. I found these that I had forgotten all about. I though they deserved to see the light of day again after 15 plus years of being locked away.

I like the engraving on those notes! The first two are clearly Victorian in style, yet all are undated as far as I can see, but that fractional note must be the 50s-60s? Was that a British convention? All the Canadian notes I've seen bear dates of issue.

G'day,
the "undating" of notes is an annoying feature of British notes ... and Australian notes upto 1992.
You might date notes by signatures or serial numbers, but you need access to tables that turn these into dates.
For example, the blue note, above, is signed PEPPIATT. That will give a range of dates.
The green note is essentially the same design, but quite different colour; and the signature is O'BRIEN.
The red note is altogether a different design, but has the same O'BRIEN signature. The portrait of the queen dates this note to 1952+. If you are familiar with portraits of her, you'd recognize this as an early one.

The blue/pink 1 Pound note is from around 1940's
The green 1 Pound note & shilling note are both from around the late 50's

I used to have the dates written down somewhere but I have long since lost the note. The 1940s and 50s would put it in the correct ball park for my grand parents which is where they came from.
