Both matey....

Being a lover of silver, it just might interest you to know that other than the "Silver Jubilee" 50 cents (cupro nickel), the others are minted in Silver.

I am sure B_F can help you in that department....

Hey Shane...are you lurking about ? Looks like crystalk64 is about to make a substantial investment in your store....[:p]

BTW...in case you have missed some earlier posts, there are a few enquiries about the Tribute to Freedom 1 oz Kooka...the one that RG uses as his avatar.

Adding three more to this thread...

2003 50th Anniversary of the Coronation of QEII

This one is in Aluminium Bronze and was minted exclusively for inclusion in a PNC. A silver proof was also minted.

The-50-Cent-Coin

2003 Australia's Volunteers

Available in cupro-nickel proof (Proof Mint Sets), Silver Proof (Fine Silver Proof Sets) and GEM Unc (Wedding Sets).

The-50-Cent-Coin

1995 Weary Dunlop

One of my favorites. This 50 cents coin was restruck in 2003 for inclusion in the RAAMC issue commemorating 100 years of the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps.

lim118 Can you post a picture of the 1966 Double Bar variety? I had one come in this morning and not sure where those bars are? If they are immediately above the head of the bird then I have multiples of bars?

lim118 I found the two bars after tilting the coin and getting more light at an angle. They are weak on this particular half but they are there!!! I seem to have an awful lot of detail on the Emu's head, or should I say the top of his head, compared to pictures I have seen! Guess I am going to have to get that Australian guidebook pretty quick!

Have a read of this Terry...the double bars are clearest on the 1979 & 1980 I will post actual photos later.

The double bars are thought to be a master punch flaw that generally was removed on the dies.
In some years like 1966, 1969 and 1999 you can on some coins see "remanents" of them.

1979 and 1980 have quite prominent double bars.

Some collectors still regard these remanents as double bars, others do not.

To me, the double bar must be as pictured, calling remanents visible only under magnification double bars is wrong.
