If I am understanding you correctly, I think you are saying that this is, in fact, a die crack and that they were quite common...right?
I keep my coins in three categories.
There is the "general population" where probably 95% of my coins are. These are coins in all grades of all denominations that are fairly normal for their grade.
Then there is a group that are special in a "good" way. This is where I would keep
Jefferson nickels with "full steps"...or coins that have incredible toning....or a doubled die....etc.
Finally, I have a group that are "sub-standard". Coins with an excessive amount of gunk on them....or heavily scratched...or dented rims...etc.
I would just like to know if the die cracks make these coins
more or
less valuable so I know which category to put them in.
Another way of asking this would be...
If I advertised a roll on uncirculated 1964 Lincoln cents for sale. Would the recipient be disappointed to find that 10 of them have die cracks?...or consider it a
bonus?
