Some guy on ebay was saying it was worth 725, wanted 650, PCGS price guide says 490. I offered 370 but said I would negotiate. Who is right here?

ANACS probably won't price as high as the PCGS list. I'd say that latest Heritage auctions are a better determinant of market value than some guy selling on ebay. The last 2 Anacs VG10s (12/07 and 6/02/08) both realized $431.25. He might expect as much as $450, but not $650...that's what Rick Snow retail prices a VF20.

His price was off, but you offering him a lowball price is probably either going to get ignored or a very choicely worded e-mail reply.

Considering ANACS it's probably 470, ~85% of the sale price really isn't that bad if he's desperate to make college money for his kid. He tried to offer me 600, I said no way and said 385 tops.

I'm so bad at haggling... I would have offered him 410 from the getgo and when he countered come back with the same 410...

You're both right. It's his coin, he can ask whatever he wants for it. You are interested, and made a fair offer. No middle ground, no deal, no problem. There are others.

If you go back and look at the completed ebay auctions, he did not get his price, but an Anacs vf20 also didn't get their asking of 490 , but a nice Anacs VF20 in an older holder did get $549 on a BINow offering, but it looks like a great vf20.
I guess that is why many pay a premium for the older holders.

Possession is at least 9/10ths of the law and the equation, right or wrong.
